ADP Pay Stub to Excel

Convert an ADP earnings statement into a spreadsheet Excel can open. StubCSV reads standard text-based pay stub PDFs, including statements you export from ADP, and pulls earnings, taxes, deductions, gross, and net. Scanned or photo PDFs are not supported.

Download one ADP statement as a text PDF

Most employees sign in at my.adp.com, or they open the ADP mobile app and land in the same pay area. A link in a pay notification email usually goes to the same place. Open Pay, then Statements or Pay Statements, and pick a single pay date.

Use Download or the PDF icon when you see one. If the statement only opens on screen, use the browser print dialog and choose Save as PDF. That file is what you upload here. A photo of a paper stub, or a scan from a copier, has no text layer, and StubCSV will ask you for a text PDF instead of guessing at the numbers.

ADP layouts vary, and the parser is generic

There is no separate ADP mode. Workforce Now, RUN, and other ADP products can all produce a normal earnings statement, and employers tweak the columns. Many statements print a current amount and a year-to-date amount, and a lot of them put earnings beside taxes or deductions. StubCSV reads the text positions in the PDF, splits a wide horizontal gap into separate columns, and labels each line from the words on it: Regular, Overtime, Federal Income Tax, Social Security, 401(k), and similar.

You get a row per line, with rate and hours on earnings rows when those numbers are actually on the line. Year-to-date amounts come along only when the statement has a YTD column. Direct deposit lines (checking, savings, routing, account) are skipped, so bank details from the deposit block are not copied into the sheet. Lines the parser cannot classify are left out, which is why the preview is there.

A year of statements for a lender or a landlord

Mortgage and rental applications often want several paystubs in a spreadsheet. Every detailed CSV uses the same columns (employer, employee, pay date, period start, period end, category, description, rate, hours, current, YTD), so you can paste one ADP statement under the next and filter by category.

After extraction we check that gross pay minus taxes and deductions equals net pay, within five cents. A green check means those extracted totals agree with each other. A warning tells you the gap so you can compare those lines with the PDF before you send the sheet anywhere. ADP layouts differ by employer, so the preview is the check that matters.

The file Excel actually opens

The free download is a CSV. Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, and LibreOffice open it directly. Paid plans add a formatted .xlsx workbook with the same numbers. Two successful conversions a day are free, and the PDF is processed in memory and discarded.

If ADP gave you one PDF that contains every statement for the year, split it first. Each upload is read as a single pay statement. A password-protected PDF has to be opened and reprinted with Print, then Save as PDF, before it will convert.

Convert your own pay stub

How it works

Pay stub PDF to CSV in three steps

  1. Step 1

    Get a text PDF

Download your pay stub from your payroll or tax portal. If it came as a photo or scan, open it there and use Print → Save as PDF.

  2. Step 2

    Drop it in

We read the PDF's text layer in memory, find each field, and cross-check the math so you can trust the result.

  3. Step 3

    Download the CSV

Preview every line, then download a tidy CSV that opens in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers.

Your payroll PDF never touches a disk.

Pay stubs and tax forms are some of the most sensitive documents you own. StubCSV is built so we couldn't hand them over even if someone asked: we simply don't keep them.

Read the privacy policy
  • Processed in memory

Your PDF is read into server memory, parsed, and discarded the moment the response is sent.

  • Nothing is stored

No disk writes, no database, no file storage bucket. There is nothing to leak later.

  • SSNs masked

Social Security numbers and recipient TINs come back as ***-**-1234. We never send the full number back.

  • No content logging

We don't log file contents or extracted values. The CSV is generated in your browser.
